CAI RANG FLOATING MARKET
Cai Rang is the largest floating market in the Mekong Delta. Early morning is the best time to mingle with lively trading activities albeit some vendors can still be seen up until noon. Unlike the floating markets you may have seen in Thailand, where small wooden boats thread narrow canals, most floating markets here are on the banks of wide stretches of river and the Cai Rang market is no exception.
THOT NOT STORK GARDEN
This is a 1.3-hectare stork sanctuary, popular for group tours that come to see thousands of storks that reside here. Inside the sanctuary there is a tall wooden viewing platform and the best time of day to see the birds is from 5 to 6am and again between 4 and 6pm. The sanctuary is 42km away from Can Tho.
BINH THUY OLD HOUSE
Movie lovers will find no difficulty in recognizing this ancient house since it was chosen as a shooting site for the famous film “L’amant” by J.J. Annaud. The house is named after the locality in which it is located and remains in relatively good shape.
BIKING IN BINH THUY
Taking a bike ride around Binh Thuy is a treat to any travellers. The narrow biking route snakes through year-round green orchards, verdant rice paddies, and peaceful villages. You can also stop at a local home for a chat with the family and try some fresh home grown fruits. Real life experience of Vietnamese rural life can be encountered all along the way. The sights of little kids swimming in rivers; women rowing their sampans or washing their clothes in small canals; and old men cleverly walking on a precarious tree -trunk bridges will surely fill your trip with fun and enjoyment.
