Day 1 Vientiane – Pakse – Wat Phu – Done Daeng
Transfer to the Vientiane Airport for a flight to Pakse. On arrival, drive south on the National Road 13 to Champassak to visit the temple ruins of Wat Phu which date from the 5th and 6th centuries and predate Angkor Wat by over 200 years. Originally built as a shrine to Shiva, the temple is thought to have been linked to Angkor by a 100km road marked with stones. Following lunch, continue our journey by long tailed boat to Done Daeng and La Folie Lodge where you have the rest of the day to either relax or explore the island.

Day 2 Done Daeng – 4000 Islands and Surrounding
After an early morning breakfast, head south by road and boat to Done Khon.  Here we begin re-tracing the French colonial past at Ban Khon, where some old colonial houses still stand, and also glimpse at the first Lao locomotive railway. We continue our exploration of the area of the 4,000 islands by boat and visit the beautiful Liphi Waterfall, also known as the Samphamith, which forms a natural border between Lao and Cambodia.  We return to Ban Nakasang and drive to the famous waterfall of Khone Phapeng (also known as the “Niagara of the East”), the largest waterfall in Southeast Asia.
