VC23 Trip to Battambang ( 2 days / 1 night )

Siem Reap - Battambang - Siem Reap

Day 1   Siem Reap – Battambang

Today, you will drive to Battambang (173km/2.30hrs away), Cambodia’s second-largest city, which was founded in the 11th century. It is the former capital of Monton Kmer and lies in the heart of the Northwest Cambodia. Until the war years when most of the infrastructure was destroyed, the province was the leading rice-producing region of the country. You will visit the provincial museum and drive along the picturesque Sangker River to visit Wat Ek Phnom (11th century - Suryavaman I). In the afternoon, you will visit the Phnom Sampeau and killing fields before continuing on to Phnom Banon (most noticeable for its five sandstone towers standing on the top of a hill) and enjoy a magnificent view of the surrounding plains.

Overnight in Battambang

Day 2   Battambang – Sightseeing – Siem Reap

After breakfast, transfer to the Bamboo Train Station. The Bamboo train was set up by the villagers to facilitate the transportation of both goods and passengers. The train’s very basic technology is comprised of a platform on 4 wheels which is activated by a small motor. For your comfort, Vidotour provides some cushions for the 8km travel through beautiful landscapes and rice paddies to the next station. Leave the train and start your discovery of local country life by visiting a village. Stop at a workshop that specializes in wooden sculpture and afterwards visit a local NGO named “La Maison de Coco” and the downtown area populated with its beautiful houses dating from colonial time.  Return to Siem Reap in the afternoon.
