In the morning, you will drive northwest to Banteay Mean Chey Province (Sisophon) to visit Banteay Chhmar Temple, formerly an ancient capital of King Jayavarman II. It was later rebuilt by Jayavarman VII in honour of his sons and four generals who were killed in a battle against the Cham. This 11th century sandstone structure suffered significant damage during repeated Thai invasions. Many of its huge bas-reliefs survived and are comparable to those at Bayon and Angkor Wat. Enjoy your picnic lunch before proceeding to Banteay Toap Temple.
